FPUA & Rotary Club of Felixstowe continue to support local charities

Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

And there’s no more generous than East Anglia’s logistics sector.

With the planning of two significant charity events for May already underway, Porttalk first shares news of the Felixstowe Port Users’ Association Golf Day.

Hosted on Friday, 10 May, at the Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, the event is already a sell-out. It will be the fifth charity golf day and the FPUA committee would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

The book is now closed for participating teams; however, many ways exist to get involved. The charity Golf Day seeks sponsorship for individual holes and on-course refreshments. If any company or individual can support them with a raffle prize, it would be hugely appreciated, as would any financial donations. Please get in touch with Ian Taylor at infor@fpua.co.uk if you would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities or donate a raffle prize.

While still deciding upon the beneficiaries of this year’s golf event, the FPUA is delighted to confirm that the £5,000 raised at its Christmas Charity Ball will be presented by cheque to the Diabetic Clinic by its committee at Ipswich Hospital on 29 February.

A week later, on Friday, 17 May, the Felixstowe Rotary Club will host its eagerly anticipated Charity Boxing Night.

Now in its ninth year, the Rotary Club of Felixstowe’s charity boxing dinner has become one of the biggest events in the town’s charity calendar. This year, the primary beneficiary will be St Elizabeth Hospice. Ipswich.

Co-coordinator of this year’s event, Roger Beaton, says: “With the show recognised as a significant event in amateur boxing, we can be sure to see some great contests and boxing of a high standard. Thanks particularly for the support of Martin Webb of Harwich Boxing Club, “England Boxing” coach and the event matchmaker.

“Hosted at Felixstowe’s Brackenbury Sports Centre on Friday, 17 May, the event features top-class boxing, a three-course dinner, an auction and a raffle. And, of course, it’s an excellent opportunity for entertaining clients and networking. Thanks to the tremendous support of the local business community, we already have a full house, but sponsorship opportunities are still available.”

Please get in touch with Roger@Beatons.co.uk if you would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
