With only a few months remaining until Multimodal 2026 at the NEC Birmingham (30 June – 2 July), there’s a noticeable shift in pace across the industry. Conversations are moving from “are you going?” to “have you booked?”, as exhibitor space becomes scarce, deadlines approach, and plans start to take shape.

Multimodal remains one of the few events that truly brings together the entire sector – hauliers, forwarders, ports, terminals, and technology providers – all in a single venue. Following a record 2025, which saw over 13,500 attendees, expectations are high for another busy year.

That momentum is already evident among exhibitors. Space is filling up steadily, and for those still considering a stand, the opportunity is shrinking. With over 300 exhibitors typically participating, late decisions can easily result in missed opportunities.

Alongside the show floor, the conference programme has now been announced, providing a clearer picture of what visitors can expect over the three days. Sessions will address key themes shaping the sector, from technology and AI to resilience, sustainability, and people, with input from organisations including Logistics UK, BIFA, UKWA, RFG, CILT, and the RHA. As always, the conference, which remains free to attend, continues to be a strong attraction.

Attention is also turning to the Multimodal Awards, held on the evening of 30 June at The Vox. For many in the industry, this is as much a tradition as the exhibition itself, offering a chance to step away from the stands and connect with customers, partners, and peers.

The awards programme features both the industry-voted Modal Awards, with nominations closing on 2 April and voting opening on 13 April, and the independently judged Multimodal Awards, with entries closing on 27 April 2026. With judging conducted independently and many categories decided by the industry itself, there is always a strong interest in the awards. Tables are already in high demand and, based on previous years, availability is unlikely to last. This year’s event will be hosted by impressionist and comedian Rory Bremner, bringing a slightly different dynamic to an evening that is as much about networking as it is about recognition.

Beyond the formal agenda, Multimodal continues to embody the broader spirit of the logistics sector, as demonstrated by the team’s recent fundraising efforts for Transaid. As part of a cycle challenge, the Multimodal team has been raising money to support transport safety and access initiatives in developing regions, adding a community-focused element to the event’s build-up.

As part of UK Logistics Week, the event will again be at the heart of a broader programme of activities, attracting a diverse range of businesses and creating additional opportunities to connect beyond the exhibition.

For those already planning their visit, key dates are now firmly set. For those still deciding, the signs are becoming harder to ignore. Multimodal 2026 isn’t just approaching; it’s beginning to take shape.
