Multimodal 2025 closed last week with a standing ovation – and for good reason. With visitor numbers up by 5% to 13,652 and 870 guests attending the record-breaking Multimodal Awards, the UK’s flagship logistics event ended on a high at the NEC Birmingham.

The jewel in the crown of the three-day show, the Multimodal Awards, lit up the industry calendar with a dazzling celebration of innovation, sustainability and operational excellence.

Cameron Bowie Takes Top Honour

Leading the roll call of winners was Cameron Bowie, Managing Director of Hapag-Lloyd UK & Ireland, who was named Personality of the Year. With a 34-year global career spanning Asia, the US and Europe, and decades of support for Multimodal, Cameron was visibly moved:

“It was a surprise and a huge honour – an award that not many of us have a chance to receive. If you enjoy the relationships you develop with your team, it’s easy. I’m really flattered and deeply honoured.”

DP World Dominates with Double Win

Sustainability and sector leadership were at the forefront, with DP World clinching both Port Company of the Year and Sustainability Company of the Year, thanks to its proven CO₂ reductions and data-driven green initiatives.

Modal Champions Voted By the Industry

The ever-popular Modal Awards, voted for by visitors and exhibitors, saw these top performers take the spotlight:

• Air Freight: Kuehne+Nagel
• Road Freight: Maritime Transport
• Rail Freight: Freightliner
• Sea Freight: MSC
• Port Operations: DP World
• 3PL: Maersk

Innovation, Technology and Teamwork Recognised

• Howard Tenens Logistics won the Best Warehouse Operation award, hailed as a “benchmark entry” for its innovative use of robotics and emission reductions.
• Technology Company of the Year went to CCL Logistics & Technology, lauded for addressing sustainability challenges with smart solutions.
• Shipper/Partner of the Year was awarded to Sky and DHL Supply Chain for their Connected Control Tower collaboration, delivering a 4% freight spend saving.
• CNS Ltd took home the Customs Technology Company of the Year.
• Associated British Ports was named Multimodal Exhibitor of the Year.

Spotlight on Inclusion and Emerging Talent

• Iron Mountain won DEI Company of the Year for its forward-thinking inclusion strategies, including a standout SEND college partnership.
• Young Logistics Professional of the Year went to Haya Huang of DCG Logistics UK, who was recognised for her rapid career progression and standout impact.

 Event Director Robert Jervis summed up the night:
