One of Felixstowe’s transport and warehouse community members has returned to Suffolk after spending 12 months working in Kent. During his time there, Andy Proctor improved systems for the private ambulance company he supported, and now he’s working his magic for others.

The local logistics sector has already welcomed his consultancy services with open arms, so Porttalk was delighted to speak with Andy to learn more about his new offerings.

“With spreadsheets still being a core part of most organisations’ processes and systems, many users need to realise just how much more the humble spreadsheet is capable of. I’ve been making websites for over 20 years, but my genuine interest lies in workflow apps that provide solutions to the company’s pinch points.

“I’ve now combined my digital experience with no-code development and the knowledge I’ve gained from previous projects to help others maximise the potential of their IT.”

Andy continues: “Integrating tools such as Appsheet, Zapier, and Clicksend into your Excel spreadsheets is inexpensive, but the benefits are transformational and deliver alerts, triggers, calculations, and rules that can elevate your understanding of your business and its finances.”

Many warehouse, transport, and logistics companies find that the apps commercially available meet most of their needs, but when they require a tweak, unique feature, or addition, it can’t be done, or it costs thousands of pounds. A firm believer that any IT requirement a business needs can be achieved, Andy’s IT agility ensures that it takes just minutes when a customer requires a new addition or iteration. “Currently, my most popular feature is health and safety walkaround reporting, which is bespoke to the environment being checked,” Andy explains. He has also created pre-shift vehicle checks for drivers that can accommodate specific attachments, fittings, and accessories, which can be added or adapted over time. The system can perform shot load reporting and send images to the customer, removing the need for SD cards and cameras – all in real-time.

He adds, “Working on an hourly rate through a customer’s own Google account ensures that all the work I undertake belongs to the customer, and this user-friendly approach is definitely ticking boxes for local logistics companies and other businesses in the area.”
