Festive fundraising begins at home

Christmas cheer as the logistics industry goes above and beyond to support those in need.

Porttalk is delighted to update you on the efforts of the FPUA Christmas Charity Ball and how, this year, KWL Logistics has been supporting the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal.

Getting the month off to a fabulous start, the FPUA Christmas Charity Ball was held on 1st December at the Orwell Hotel.

Jason Flower, chairman of the FPUA, says: “The highlight of our events calendar, a massive thank you goes to all those who attended the ball, which was a standout affair, and to those who generously provided raffle prizes or helped with arrangements.

“Exemplifying the industry’s team spirit and support of others, I’m delighted to report that with the profit secured from ticket sales and the funds raised on the evening from the raffle and  the Heads and Tails game, the FPUA are delighted to be able to donate £5,000 to our chosen charity for the event, the Ipswich Diabetic Centre.”

Heading over to Felixstowe’s Schneider Close, the team at KWL Logistics has been busy donating funds to help contribute to Operation Christmas Child on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse UK.

Brooke Flower of KWL Logistics says: “When we came up with the idea of supporting the Christmas Shoe Box appeal, we hoped to raise sufficient funds to fill and donate five shoe boxes. Smashing this target, and as a result of the generosity of the whole KWL team, we’re delighted to have raised sufficient funds to fill eighteen shoe boxes.

“The boxes have been dropped off to the Operation Christmas Child team and are now, along with thousands of other donated boxes, on their way to be distributed to over 100 countries worldwide. It’s been a joy to support this  fantastic cause, and we are thrilled that our boxes will bring happiness to 18 young children on Christmas morning.”
